Our combination classes are a great way to dive into a variety of dance styles & movements that will aid students in growth and expose them to the fundamentals and disciplines that each style has to offer.
Minis 1 (age 3):
This is a stimulating, fun, and imaginative approach to creative movement as well as an excellent introduction to the study of dance. Students learn body awareness and develop a dance vocabulary. The class offers a unique way of exploring music, rhythm, movement, posture, agility and grace all in the context of fun and imagination! There is a tumbling portion of the class.
Minis 2 (ages 4-5):
This is a stimulating, fun, and imaginative approach to creative movement as well as an excellent introduction to the study of different dance styles. Students learn body awareness and develop a dance vocabulary. The class offers a unique way of exploring music, rhythm, movement, posture, agility and grace all in the context of fun and imagination. There is a tumbling portion of this class as well as a tap portion.
Dance Basics 1 (Kindergarten) & Dance Basics 2 (1st Grade):
These classes combine Ballet, Tap and Jazz/Hip-Hop, into a one hour format. The fundamentals of each of these dance disciplines are introduced and age appropriate skills are developed. Students learn to hear and count music and demonstrate various rhythms through tapping. Students develop technique and vocabulary in all three areas of dance with closer emphasis on posture, placement and movement potential.
Specialized Classes for Students 2nd Grade and Up:
Ballet:
Students will learn classical ballet technique and terminology. Each class includes barre exercises, center floor work, across-the-floor and center combinations. The ballet curriculum, at each level, will become increasingly more complex and intricate.
Jazz/Hip-Hop:
This is a high energy class that will focus on learning proper dance technique such as isolations of the body, improving performance quality and developing complex rhythms and patterns. Students are exposed to various styles of jazz such as Broadway, Street and Contemporary. Curriculum combines traditional jazz with current hip-hop movement and includes a proper warm-up, stretches, isolations, across-the-floor progressions and combinations.
Tap:
Tap classes are designed to develop rhythm, style, and sound. Students will learn a variety of tap styles from Broadway to Rhythm Tap. Exercises focus on building flexibility of the knee and ankles, coordination and speed of movement. The class emphasis is on developing proper tap technique, producing clear tap sounds and having fun with the music.
Musical Theatre/Tap:
Musical Theatre consists of dance, acting games and concepts, improvisation and tap. Students will learn the different musical theatre styles of dance (i.e. Bob Fosse, Jerome Robbins etc.) while also learning stage directions, story telling and characterization as well as a variety of tap styles and rhythms. This class is designed to help students build confidence on and off the stage!
Acro:
An acrobatics class teaches balance, strength, control and flexibility. Students will learn how to properly execute things such as cartwheels, handstands, back bends and walkovers among other tricks while blending both dance technique with acrobatics technique. This class will aid the students in enhancing flexibility and strength.
Acro & Jazz:
This class combines the styles of acrobatics and Jazz. An acrobatics class teaches balance, strength, control and flexibility.
